In 2021, WOMBO Dream did something revolutionary: they slipped a full AI art generator into a dead-simple mobile app featuring a single style picker and a "generate" button and showed a global audience for the first time that there was nothing to fear in creating AI art, provided you weren't trying to be a professional artist (or couldn't be bothered to learn how). The tap-to-create experience is (and was) the entire value proposition: type in your prompt, select one of the style presets (Ghibli, ethereal, steampunk, neon, baroque, et al.), and get an image within seconds. No parameters, no interface complexity, no logging in for the basic stuff. Being first on mobile/app first and on-device meant it was possible to create and then share to Instagram within two minutes, a use case the company built to its specification. The output has a uniquely stylized soft focus feel that proved immensely shareable on social platforms. WOMBO also expanded on this line with Dream by WOMBO, now effectively the same product as Dream. AI and both lines are now officially under the WOMBO brand. The one consistent criticism lobbed at WOMBO is image quality; the photos often come out less detailed than Midjourney or NightCafe or even Leonardo, and complex prompts may not get executed faithfully, so it's not a tool you'd seriously consider if you need polished production-quality assets. The premium is $9.99 a month (billed annually) or $19.99 monthly and is designed to remove watermarks, unblock all styles, and offer higher resolutions, but if you want simply the absolute most direct route from an idea on your phone and sharing, without the need for learning anything, WOMBO Dream is that route.
