We only found one major AI writing platform, which is Sudowrite, designed expressly for the requirements of fiction writers. It was clear, even without it being explained, because every feature of it has been created for the sole purpose of narrating stories as opposed to a generalist AI assistant that does a million things. When you're starting you enter the prompt into Describe Your Story; this tells it about your main characters, the plot structure and the world you are building so the AI can help you structure it from the off. Canvas is the full manuscript management workspace; Write produces a couple of hundred words in the voice you've established, and Describe, with sensory details, fills out characters, places, and objects. If you're stuck for ideas, there is a Brainstorm feature, which produces ideas, characters' motivations, and directions for the story, and Rewrite churns out alternative options for paragraphs at various degrees of emotional intensity or perspective. There's a feedback feature that gives notes much like a constructive writing workshop; it will find any pacing issues, character discrepancies, and points in the story where you "tell" and you "should have shown." Nothing else that's been designed as a general AI platform comes close to it for specific, creative writing tasks. Its only real limitation is that it isn't the right platform at all if you're not writing fiction. Any SEO content or marketing material is probably not what it's built for, which you find out quickly if you attempt to use it for it. With prices starting from as low as $19 a month, you really can't complain, given the specific purpose of the creative writing support it offers.
