Worth knowing upfront: Podcastle has rebranded as Async, and podcastle.ai now redirects to async.com. Async's site currently leads with AI video editing, so check async.com to confirm which of the podcast recording, voice cloning and audio enhancement features and plans described below are still offered. A browser-based audio recording and editing suite added voice cloning, especially as it pertained to the podcasting use case. This is a specific, practical workflow: you record your episode, your voice is cloned from it, and subsequent mistakes, fixes, insertions, or extra content can be produced in your own voice from within the editor. This closed feedback loop between the capture, edit, and generation process is the thing that makes it stand out from pure voice cloning tech producing generic audio that you then have to import for use in another application. Podcastleclone quality is good for both correcting dialogue and adding shorter snippets to content, and the recording enhancement tools (denoiser, room tone adjustment, breath removal) operate on the raw audio before cloning so the clone itself learns from clean processed audio. Podcastle also includes a really interesting AI interviewer: on one side you or your guest would provide responses to a conversation driven by Podcastle AI, asking clarifying questions to help it understand your speech better, and you’d then respond, without needing the two parties to ever be online and in the same session together. Again, the honest criticism is Podcastle is designed for podcasters; if your production scope includes video essays, YouTube or course creation, then the tooling is less useful than that of something like Descript that integrates audio and video editing (with cloning) with more general content creation workflows. A free account includes basic recording, while the Storyteller tier is $23.99 for all unlimited recording and cloning. If voice cloning sounds appealing for insertion into your existing recording/editing workflow, Podcastle is the most obvious candidate in this space.
