Starting life as a background remover tool, PhotoRoom has evolved into something far more comprehensive. The central proposition remains the same: its background removal, which, still, is one of the best you can get – think messy hair, see-through bottles and hyper-detailed product features – no patchy results like the less sophisticated, cheaper tools available out there. Yet what's more compelling is what it can now do by way of its studio generation functionality. You can shoot your product in situ on any surface, use PhotoRoom's technology to isolate the background, and then choose one of hundreds of studio scenes (including AI-generated lifestyle settings which feel like they were shot in real studios with carefully crafted lighting) to replace the former. For e-commerce small businesses who don't have the budget to invest in a product photography studio, this is clearly the most straightforward path to a professional listings catalogue. Mass uploads make updating large catalogues easy without a painstaking manual edit process for each image. The Photo Shoot feature automatically provides complete lifestyle shots of any product, including lighting, shadows and relevant props. The only obvious drawback? When you go beyond the free tier, the price is a bit steep. The free account is watered down with a watermark and provides compressed images, which is effectively useless in terms of what you could reasonably present as an e-commerce listing, and Pro at $12.99/month offers the real thing. It's best placed for Etsy, Shopify and Amazon sellers that will require a regular, constant supply of clean e-commerce shots but have no budget for a professional photography studio. Photo Room saves users time and money straight out of the first week.
