Many podcasters do the hard work – the hosting, the editing, the scripting – then try to cut corners at the finishing stage. The result: an episode that sounds a tad bit too muffled or has spikes in loud sections or has a weirdly uneven character across segments as it was recorded over a couple of days. Enter Auphonic, the post-production finishing tool that ties everything up automatically for you. Just upload an audio file, set a target volume, and Auphonic handles everything from normalisation to noise reduction, different speaker levelling and format conversion. Output is in broadcast standards thanks to the software built around EBU R128 and LUFS parameters that streaming platforms actually care about. The chapter marking feature comes in handy with podcaster work; add some chapter data, and the resultant file has embedded data which podcast apps use to show chapters. The possibility to autopublish to Spotify, SoundCloud, etc. Directly from Auphonic, trim off one more element in your workflow. Even their free usage tier is good for 2 hours of processing per month – which should be enough for a long-form podcast episode for nothing. Paid plans give additional per-month hours for $11/month. My only real caveat is: it's a post-production finisher, not a producer; it cannot chop up the segments, remove filler words or shorten your episodes – so if you just want to clean audio that's broadcast-ready and are short of technical know-how to finish production, then Auphonic's your best bet.
